Default Rob at Ardennes Coticules is AWESOME!

Not too long ago, I saw that Coticule/BBW combo in the classifieds for a VERY low price. Apparently the stone was chipped on one corner, and the Coticule layer is kind of thin, so Rob was offering it for less than half price. I, thinking that since I won't be doing too much honing anyway, the thin-ness wouldn't be a huge issue, bought it. I did worry about the chip, though, and so I asked Rob if he could cut that end off, and I could use it as a slurry stone. Rob said that it would be better to polish out the chip, and so I went for it.

So, I got the stone and it is gorgeous. However, in my excitement, I didn't give the packing material in the box a good going-through. The other night, I was cleaning up around my shave den and finally emptied the box. What did I find? Rob had very generously thrown in a combo slurry stone with my order, for no extra charge! Now, that's what I call above and beyond...

Thanks Rob, and I hope you continue to have all the success you deserve!

Jim , always separate the wheat from the chaff or the slurry stones from the packing material.

    Outstanding service

Sorry, you're wrong, they arrived with the post today a little after I went to work this morning. Truly awesome stuff, esp. the slurry stone which is thicker than my actual grinding stone. It did a good job on my Dovo. Thank you Rob!

I got a combo stone from Rob at the end of last year, one of three small, odd shaped ones advertised in the classifieds here. I asked how much it would cost to buy a slurry stone as well and he said he'd throw one in for free. I thought it would just be a coticule or bbw slurry stone (and would have been more than happy with and very grateful for that) but it was actually a combo slurry stone. The combo and slurry are probably my favourite bits of shaving kit - many visitors think I'm mad as I show the stones off, explaining how they're great for different stages of the honing process and are found next to each other in one quarry in Belgium! The stones arrived well packaged and in perfect nick within ten days of paying for them - faster than various things I'd ordered from the UK at the same time. Anyway, this was a long winded way of adding to your approbation - Rob truly is awesome!
