    Default Display Case

    Anyone know a good vendor to buy a hinged,glass front display case from?I would like to display the razors in my rotation,but I'm concerned about the moisture from the shower.I like the looks of some of the open razor shelves,but I don't want to worry about rust.Also,I know me and I'm not one to oil my razors,then un-oil them to shave with.I am good about drying them and give an occasional pivot spray of wd-40(ala Glen).

    Glen,

    I wouldn't use the WD if I were you. The scales don't react well to it. Another problem with oiling the pivot pin is build up, soap, dna, dust, and any other junk that gets in there. I would just keep them clean and dry. I know oiling the blade is a drag, You can use Wahl Clipper oil which is Mineral Oil, or Camelia oil, just a thin coat on the blade with your finger will do it. When your done shaving, leave it out to dry while you do your thing, then apply the oil. Keep the pin area dry,clean and free of debris. You could be making a potential problem for yourself. One of my good friends is a pro str8 restorer and I hear about the junk that he finds in the pivot area all the time which is like razor cancer.

    P.S. There's a member on here, (maybe he'll chime in) who made a nice display case from a shadow box he got at a hobby shop. He basically beefed up the backing with some plywood, added some felt backing and used 5/8th's shoulder hooks. It came out nice, Do a search for Display Case....

    Classic Shaving has quite a collection of display boxes and I think someone was making a display box with the SRP Logo though its all wood no glass. I'm sure someone will come along with some other places.

    I got one at Ikea that works pretty well for ~$65.00

    Here are a couple of pics from a few months ago;

    and

    It looks a little different now, but that's the basic idea.

    The razors are on plate holders from walmart, ($0.60 each).

    (BTW, I only turn the light on when showing somebody or when really taking my time on a Sunday shave).

    I just remembered a couple more options this morning.

    Cannonfodder made one, so if you're feeling up to doing it yourself here's the thread on how he made his;

    I keep Camellia Oil on all my razors in the racks. It has worked great and the shower is right across from them.

    Thanks,Lynn.So I'd be okay using an open razor rack if I oiled the blades?Hmmm.I might have to give in and start oiling.I have read about a spray camellia oil in some post,is that what you are using?

    That display case looks great. I went to my local cigar shop and picked up some real nice wooden cigar boxes and have used them for a razor case. Works well and you can get some really nice looking boxes for a buck or two.

    I store my razors in my bed room in a cabinet. I have small children and keep the razors out of sight of curious little eyes.
