Terry Knipschield of Rochester, MN is a master hollow grinder. He's been making custom knives for decades, but he'll also make razors.

I've met him several times and was fortunate enough, as was Randy Tuttle and Sean aka Purvis to have Terry give us a hollow grinding demo at Mike Blue's recently.

Terry will make custom razors and my gosh look at those prices. That's unheard of for someone that that level of bladesmithing experience.

Needless to say I've VERY EXCITED to get that razor. It will be my first stainless and ATS-34 no less.

Not exactly lol. I sell the ones I don't want in terms of vintage. I am making full customs now too, but not really taking orders full out yet. Still perfecting some stuff, but my website is Alex Jacques Custom Razors

This is one in progress that still needs a lot of work, but you get the idea...

Can't wait to see how that turns out Alex. Once the RW is paid for I may be making an enquiry!

Thanks for the idea, and everybody's input. I've used it to put together Custom Straight Razors - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Please feel free to amend and enhance.

Aaaack!! Bruce, how could I possibly have omitted including your name in the meeting at Mikes? Now I have proof that my mind is slipping. Please accept my sincere apology, my friend. I had a mental image when I wrote that previous post of Sean, Randy and I in the forge/grinding area when you must have been chatting at length with Mike.

Off to the corner for me with self imposed and well deserved punishment.

    Apology cheerfully accepted.

    Somewhat off topic story follows:

Years ago, while walking toward the Daytons (now Macy's) store in downtown Minneapolis, I had to keep side-stepping to avoid people that were almost walking into me. This made me question if I were real or if I were invisible. Dodging a few more folks, I concluded that I was invisible, but needed further tests to prove my theory. I decided the easiest way to do this was simply not to move to avoid a collision with my fellow pedestrians. I'll bet that in walking the half city block remaining between me and the department store I had at least a half dozen people bounce off me - sputtering and spitting and squawking in complete and utter amazement that this person had not only the temerity to materialize before them with absolutely no warning, but also substance enough that it was they who did the bouncing.

So... it is entirely possible that I was in and out of my invisible phase during Terry's demo. And you caught me in or out, depending on your definition or viewpoint: in-visible or out-of sight.

    cheers, Bruce

Bruce, I was hoping there would be an explanation other than me losing my mind, but I'm still not too sure.

Oh, and almost 20 years ago I had a job hand delivering printing jobs all over downtown Mpls and traveled on foot. Skyways, sidewalks, people all made for very interesting travels!
