I asked Dave if there was a way to check the IP address of all that signed up and he said you would have to check each person which does take a while. So by checking only the winners IP address I suppose that is about as close as we can get. I can check for double posts by clicking on one button and it displays all that have posted more than once which is quite handy and I also send that person a PM stating that I am deleting his last post/s.

I would humbly enquire that you do not ban one of us! Both of us use the same computer to post here.....

Checking IP address could be easily circumvented. Unless you have a static IP address from your ISP it could change everytime you reboot your modem or leave it off for a while. If you use an anonymous browsing program/service your IP address could be changing constantly. Perhaps requiring some minimum post count (5 or 10?) and checking the winner's IP address would be sufficient.

Nothing's bullet proof but you only need prevention measures scaled to the effort/reward. The prizes are significant but you have to reduce their value by the probability of winning. Just opening a bunch of shill accounts and entering would probably be worth it to increase your chances of winning. Opening a bunch of shill accounts, and making some number of posts in each, and randomizing your IP, and entering would probably not be worth the increase in your probability of winning.

    Spike,
You and Silver have nothing to worry about.
If there are any shill accounts we, the mods, would need to investigate such to verify the validity of an account.
So how are you the Squid and Silver doing?

    Cheers,
    Bill

    Quick,
You are exactly right about the changing IP's and I have no idea on how to prevent that type of thing. The odds of winning are fairly high depending on how many sign up but still............. Some that I have checked have several IP's that are listed by their name so ???????????????

Mike, your IP address only shows you and that may be because your wife may not a member of SRP. Spike and Silver are both members and if both of them signed up for the giveaway that would be OK.

    Cheers,
    Bill
