Thanked: 37I got a straight from Japan a few months back and it said "eyebrow trimmers". Maybe when I am older and start getting those crazy Albert Einstien brows I might use it to shave my eyebrows.
As a government employee I regularly enforce some dumbass regulations that some underinformed politician crammed down the public's throat (yes, I despise these particular codes and politicians). They do this under the banner of public safety hoping to garner a few more votes at election time.
Thank God we have banned bayonet lugs from assault rifles. Since this ban there has not been a single incident of drive-by bayonetings.
I will now climb down off of my soap box.

I've bought and sold lots of straights internationally and never had a problem, even though they were labeled "razor".
There's absolutely no reason it should be against regulations to ship these things. It's illegal to ship "dangerous goods" but that's intended to stop corrosive, toxic or explosive items. There's nothing dangerous about a boxed razor!
Unfortunately, it comes down to interpretation. And some postal clerks aren't so bright... so yeah, it's probably safer to label it "shaving supplies".

Hmmmmm interesting. I have shipped razors for giveaways internationally and have not had a problem. I have even labeled them as straight razors on the customs form. None of the shipping instructions has forbidden knives or straight razors. Maybe the countries I have shipped to don't have these regulations.
if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Same here. I've literally send out tons of razors internationally, be it restores send back to their owners or vintage straight razors and I've never or ever had a problem. The clerk(s) at the PO have looked at that green custom note so many times and never told me anything.
Maybe some clerks got it confused with not allowing a straight razor to be taken aboard an airplane.
