Thanked: 9As many have said, this is the reason I switched to straights as well. It seems that with every new super-fission-rocket-turbo-9-blade version that comes out, the price of a pack goes up whereas the number of cartridges -in- that pack goes down!
I used each Mach 3 cartridge until it was virtually pulling the hairs out by the roots before changing it.

... what they really meant...
The need for 5 dull blades
To try to shave as good as one single straight razor blade
I bless the day I switched to straight razors and never bought any more cartridge (sigh)...

And we complain about the increasing cost of straight razors.

I was doing okay with the Mach 3 , milking all the mileage I could out of a cartridge . Then a day came , when I was looking for more Mach 3 cartridges , and all they had was this 4 blade crap which of course , cost more money . Around a week or two before that day , I stumbled onto this forum . Since I had been collecting straight razors for the past 20 years , I decided to get a Norton 4k/8k , and hone a coulple up , and give straight razor shaving a try . I liked it so much that I haven't shaved with anything else but a straight , since then .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Thanked: 278And here's one of the reasons they cost so much (other than plain greed):
YouTube - Shaveblog Reviews Gillette Fusion Power Phantom
Hmmm. Seeing that shaving in the dark at the end gave me a brilliant idea. They should put LEDs in the head of their battery powered razors so you can shave in dim light. I wonder if I can sell the idea to Gillette.
