Oh my! That is wonderful news, Spike! I hope all goes well with your baby girl and Silver!
Fantastic! There's nothing quite like a new baby, right?
Congratulations!
Oh! And don't forget to post pictures of Squidette here for all of us SRP uncles and aunties to awe at! We're manly men, but we like babies... I guess!Last edited by fpessanha; 03-23-2009 at 06:08 PM. Reason: memory lapse...

Thank you all chaps & chapesses.
Just jumped online while I have my dinner. I will pass on all your congratulations to Silver later. Squid is doing even better! She is out of intensive care & off ventilation & looking absolutely gorgeous. Pics will follow when Nimue has most of her tubes out & Daddy can get his hands on a non-phone camera which is allowed in the neonatal unit....
FYI Yesterday was Mother's Day here in the UK. Nimue Branwen Jones obviously decided that she wanted to give her Mummy a first Mother's Day present which will never be forgotten.
FYFI Nimue comes from the Arthurian Tales. She was Merlin's teacher/pupil/lover depending on which tradition you believe. Branwen was one of the earliest Welsh goddesses

Thanked: 3795Nimue??? You take a common name like Jones and tack on a common name Nimue? Come on, there'll be three or four Nimues alongside her in every class! Why didn't you name her something original like Brittney or Ashley?

As we say in Belgium, may your little Nimue "grow like cabbage". (That's a good thing)
All the best, also for you and Silver,

Just returned from my third midnight at the hospital. Silver is doing brilliantly well & is achieving legendary status amongst the midwives, obstetricians & anaesthetists because she is fully, if very slowly, mobile less than thirty six hours after a general anaesthetic & major surgery. That's my girl! My only concern is that she pushes herself too hard & suffers a setback.
Nimue continues to thrive as much as her Mummy. The midwives in the NNU say her progress is remarkable. So much so, that they want to use her recovery/development as a standard by which to judge other less healthy babies in the future & help the paediatric staff develop treatments for those poorly kids. She improves hour to hour. It now seems that she is a tiny tiny babe in a strange box, rather than a scrap of life clinging on by the threads & wires which enloomed her. She looked at me tonight, for the first time & the universe shifted as she stared & squeezed the tip of my index finger in her minute hand.
I love being a Daddy even more second time round!
