    Default What's your best shaver?

I own several razors, including a couple of pricy (for me) razors bought new and honed by experts. They range in size from 5/8 to 7/8. Yet, as I was reminded again this morning, my best shaver is a Boker Red Injun I bought NOS on ebay for a reasonable price and honed myself. From day one it has been a true joy to use. Is anyone else willing to admit that he has an humble servant that outperforms its more costly cousins?

Not the same, exactly, but the old steel and craftsmanship sure do prove themselves sometimes.
I have a razor that's 175 or so years old, and until very recently it was my best shaver.
That spot ahs been taken by a pretty expensive razor made by a custom maker. But not by much!
The old boy is probably hitting the hones (or Diamond lapping film, more accurately) tonight and we'll see if I can't get it back up to that #1 spot.

13/16 half hollow smiling spike W&B.
Hones very easily and shaves like a dream over and over again.
It's like getting up early and staying in bed late all at the same time.

Perhaps I'm fickle, or fortunate, but my best shaver always seems to be the one I just shaved with. I've culled the so-so razors and kept the cream. I have noticed they are all between 13/16ths and 15/16ths (except one), but a mixture of German, English, French and American razors with the whole range of grinds except extra hollow and full wedge.

My best shaver is a F.W. Engels that I picked up at an antique store for $15.00.

My Williams custom is the best shaver. Second place is held by my Wostenholm IXL

+1 on what John said. I do have a favorite but it isn't my best shaver. I couldn't say which that would be.

Well I think that it is this Case Imp. Antique store purchase with broken red scales. Blade is a little stained but honed up nice and shaves delightfully. I have a new project tho that may take over 1st place. Lots of work to do so this one is safe now.

I'm afraid even if you put a gun to my head I couldn't pick one. I have many that are really super shavers.

I honestly don't think I've found it yet.

    But I really enjoy looking.
