Getting the goods, piecemeal
I am certain I want to get a real straight since I have become familiar with the Shavette. But, I don't have all the funds at one time to get everything at one shot.
I know at a minimum, I need the razor itself, a strop of some sort, and some type of sharpening/honing stuff. Do I get the razor first, and get the other stuff before I need to hone it, or do I get the supplies first?
Also, any recommendations for a sub-100 dollar razor are welcomed.

I will again have begiiner kits early next week with Illinois #127 strop, Timor 6/8 razor, mug. brush and soap for $119. I will be getting the Fromm razors to include in the kits in a few weeks for $99 instead of the Timor.

Thanked: 2209Look in the Gallery section. There is a folder that has razor stuff for sale from the members of this forum. Some of them have razors, some have strops etc. Do not hesitate to buy a used, HONED!, razor from one of the members here. They are a real bargain and since they are already honed then you do not need to put out the money for an expensive hone AND learn how to use it. I believe Lynn has some razors for sale in his gallery also. This way the only things you need are a razor, strop, brush, soap and an old, large coffee mug.
If you don't find what you want then let us know.
Hope this helps,Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

I have the mug and a boar brush for now, and some store-bought soap (surrey and williams). I'm off to look...many thanks.
