Not so Lucky
Last week, while in work, I noticed my co worker looking at Dogs on Craigslist. I thought, Hmmmm.
I wonder if there are any Straight Razors or Eschers on there. Yes, In that order. I mean, at least once a week some newbie wanders into his local antique store and finds a stone, He thinks it's called, Escher. They want 20 bucks, is it worth it...Of course we all say, No, buy it and send it to me...Ha .....
I have no such luck, and apparently, no one in Jacksonville Flordia ever used a Straight Razor before.
Oh, Back to Craigslist. I searched and came across an add for Straight Razors and "boxes" which were actually razor coffins. I decided to meet the individual today in the K-Mart parking lot. I seemed liked a drug deal, Ok, you got the stuff, Yeah, You got the Money, let me see....No, It didn't go down like that.
I wondered riding over there on my Harley, could I be so lucky. He never said what kind they were, only that they were in excellent shape, and he wanted 10 bucks for them. He had 4 razors. I had my game plan, and game face on, thinking, Yeah, I guess I can give you 10 a piece for them. When I got there and met the guy, They were "Zeepk" yup. Imagine my dismay. The coffins were held together with electrical tape. I never get lucky. I've had to pay for everything I got. I never get lucky....Maybe one day......We have assumed control !

Try looking at local estate sales. There are treasures to be had, and cheaply! There are online alert services that can let you know when there is one, or the old reliable Sunday paper classifieds. Not just razors and hones, either. Sometimes nice knives and even firearms go for amazingly low prices. There is hope!

Man, as I was reading that, I'm waiting to hear...
"And he said, no 10 bucks for all 4! And they were all NOS Ducks!"
Sorry, man...I never get lucky either.

Thanked: 234I heard once that one really nice day will overcome the depression of four really bad ones. You know when it's been raining for a few days and you think 'yer but it was really nice a few days back' and it was 5 days ago or something?
I think the same can be said for getting lucky with purchases, some people wander into their local antique store or boot sale and find something right off the bat, they don't even know what they bought, they just thought it was cheap. Other times, you spend years looking and never seem to get the deal you were after, but you continue on in the hope that one day you'll satisfy your need, and erase the bitter memory of poor past purchases.
Keep trying.
