Thanked: 1I read up Razors for my BF and got jealous so I brought my self in.
I am so gald there is a Womans section. Let me tell you my story!
I was looking at a beauty store website and saw a shaving cream that men used as well as women that apparently smelled great and left you smooth. There was a comment left by a "MAN'S MAN" who shaved like his dad with a straight razor and even used the soap his dad used until he found this new cream.
We had a laugh at this mans comment, it sounded a bit commercial, yet at the same time were intrigued by the straight razor. So, like a good girlfriend I have spent the last 9+ hours learning about it so that I could surprised him with a fabulous (and as cheap as possible) straight razor kit.
So I went to YouTube and xman lead me here. So I feel very ready to make my purchases as I am scrolling though the forums yet I am incredibly jelous of all of this.
I want to preform a daily task with deadly weapon!
Two questions.
1. I really felt the need for myself to learn how to shave him, yet of course I don't ever want to nick him. Should I explore or just drop it?
2. Should I secretly learn the Stight Razor on my self and then show off my new skills as I present his present or should I wait and learn together?
and again I am so glad that there is a place here for a little girl
haha

Thanked: 132Welcome Thumbsup!
This is all a fantastic adventure and a great site.
Why not let the bf in on it and learn and explore the art of straight shaving together?
Have fun,

Welcome, Thumbsup
Good to see you here.
Well why not, but take it step by step, get there slowly. Shave your own body first to get the feel for it and shave a balloon first (seriously) before going at someone else.
Learning together sounds like more fun to me.

Why dont you learn to use it yourself and then one day let him in on it, he will be intrigued with your skill and it will motivate him to learn the art as well. Wont he be surprised?

Thanked: 1Thanks for the replys!
Shaving a balloon, I always thought that was a parlor trick but now it sounds like a great idea.
I am really debating on learning together or surprising him and learning a bit on my own.
I really love surprises but I am super excited and really dont think I can hold out. I really want x-mas to come cause its a great gift but it is too far away and his b-day passed.

There are a few people here in the Bay area, hope some more pop in. Would be good to get in with others as a hands on learning experience.
I'm in San Jose till the end of the month if you two want to do a get together.

Thanked: 402Welcome to the addiction, woman!
Best advice already given. +1 on learning it together.
Sometimes razors seem scarier than one thinks.

Seems like a great hobby to get into together! I'd just surprise him with it all, I've often enjoyed receiving and giving gifts at random times of the year, simply because there's no expectation of a gift at that time. I suggest you read the Wiki, ask a little advice on an affordable starter set up and then surprise him with it all one morning.
