Return to Straights
Took my first straight shave in about 3 months! I had quit because I got tired of all the hassle with stroping, lathering, etc. I just got lazy in the incredible Texas Hill Country heat and drought. This morning I got out my IXL, hone, strop, and Semoke brush with mug of Pirate's Cove Bay Rum soap and had a reunion with my razor routine. It was great to be back. No nicks, burn, nor skips. That outdoor morning shave gave me a new outlook on life again. It is good to be back after all these weeks. I hope yall appreciate the skills and pride that goes along with this noble hobby/pastime. Yes, welcome back. To paraphrase Bob Seager: "You can come back baby straight shaving never fogets."

Thanked: 190Glad to hear that you came back to it and enjoyed it. You can always get a disposable straight blade and not bother with the stropping and honing.

Still in drought there ? Hardly stops raining here now.

I've just been returning as well... My primary razor needs honed, but I found my other 2 are actually pretty good! And yes, it's good to be back!
