Now I know why Straight is best!
This morning I had my second shave(and best shave ever!) with the razor I got off the classifieds a Clauss 5/8ths.Before this razor I'd been using my Merkur slant 'cause I damaged the edge of my Flic straight and I haven't sent it to be cleaned and honed yet.
I got this Clauss razor in the pic,shave ready and it's only my second razor.While I was using the merkur with feather blades I couldn't imagine how a straight could possibly be any sharper than the feather.Hah! what was I thinking?With the Merkur,I had to use every trick I could think of to get a smooth shave especially under my chin.I scrubbed and scythed etc.and got weepers gallore as well as a sore red face.
This morning, not one weeper no advanced shaving moves to get almost there just a smooth and perfectly comfortable shave.I am finally well and truly hooked! I have been faceterbating all day.
In the picture is what I used ; Tabac soap: The real Shaving Co. cream :Onyx badger brush in a James Kent Old Foley scuttle.

The 5/8ths.Clauss feels quite small compared to the 7/8ths. Flic and unlike the Flic,the Clauss has a square point and I used to think they would cut me as soon as I put it near my face but I did the center bit between my nostrils without any trouble.Didn't cut my ears off either they still stick out like taxi doors.

Congrats, but please lets come up with a better word than "faceterbation".

I think it's quite fitting: "to defile or disturb the face" (from Latin "stuprare").
