I'm just in it for a great shave. I don't care what the lemmings use.

I'm with Otto on this. I shave with a straight razor simply for the pleasure of the experience and the closeness of the shave. RAD certainly put a huge number of razors in my hands but it's secondary to the experience and results.
With that said, I stumbled through my morning shaving routine for decades before I found out about straight razor shaving and started down that path. A feeling of superiority is somewhat tempered by that knowledge.

I started straight razor shaving practically before I REALLY needed to shave (at least every day).
It does make me feel good that I'm doing something unique and historic. I definitely enjoy my morning shaves, too.
Superior?
Yeah

Thanked: 259i shave with a straight because it is a luxury and i look forward to each and every shave. i also make my own shaving soap, so that evens make it even better, plus the old school aftershaves from pinaud/clubman are really great and remind me of times past.

I definitely did not expect this kind of response. But I'm very glad its not just me. That or we are all just horrible people. But I like to think otherwise.

Maybe I'm just a bad person, but . . .
Gentlemen,
I have always held this opinion: who am I to feel superior over anyone?
Shaving with a straight razor, therefore, does not make me feel superior to men who use other means to shave. It is what I prefer, for me, because shaving with a straight razor reflects me to myself.
The great Mozart said (I have used this quote before on SRP): "I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feeling."

what i get a real kick from is when i tell someone that my razor is around 150 years old and it shaves better than any one they can buy, they look at me with a open mouth, and i just grin .that makes my day and i smell beter than they do, because i make my own after shave.

I enjoy all aspects of using a straight razor. In fact I feel a little sad for those who it's too much work for. These days everybody is always looking for the "quick fix' instead of "the best way". I would like to see more guys using straights and understanding sometimes the old ways are truly the best ways.

I do not get superior feeling because i do not care a bit what other people use for shaving.
I like straight razor because it gives me a better shave, and because it is a tool that lasts. Not like most modern stuff that usually becomes useless very soon.
Same goes with tools when messing this and that in my garage. I rather use old hand tools such as chisels and handplanes when possible. It is a change for my to improve my skills.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

I personally don't feel superior, just a bit sad for all those guys who don't know what they are missing out on, using their canned goo and their overpriced disposable blades.
My everymorning shaves make me feel rather good about myself and I do enjoy the ritual every morning and also the fun when trying out new blades or a new soap / cream
