I also don't feel superior just because I now shave with a straight razor. I, like many out there, used to throw money away on what was suppose to be the best a man can get. Five minutes and done for the day was my old way. To quote another member's post, "time can't be saved, only spent., so spend it wisely." How true! Most days, I take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to shave. I love every aspect of straight shaving, including the slight increase in spending to satisfy RAD, so I might not save any money in the long run. But occasionally I do find myself laughing on the inside when I see someone buying disposable blades.

I dunno whether the word superior fits, so lets take it out of the frame.
    Now we're left with:
"Straight Razor shaving makes me feel___________"
What can we fill this with?
    A)"...like a stud."
    B)"...like a playah."
    C)"...like a ballah."
D)"...like a somewhat insecure young male human, who feels the need to create or employ pop culture synonyms for the phrase "fashionable gentleman" in order to move himself up in today's established social hierarchy rooted in perception and the media."
    E)"... like a well-shaved gentleman."
F)All of the above, except for D. Dunno where it came from. Left field?

    The answer is F.

I don't really care; I'm all about the excellent stubble-and-ingrown-hair-free shave. For some, safety blades or electric razors work better and they'd rather spend their time learning about or doing something else.

It also happens to be very ecologically friendly, which is another very good point for SR shaving.

How many razors did you say you have now?

$29 for an 8-pack of fusion cartridges. 1 cartridge per week. That's 2 months. Every 4.5 months you could buy yourself a new Dovo "best" for that price. Throw in a can of green goop every 3 weeks and you can do in less time.

Where is that money better spent? If I wait 8 months I can buy myself an antique Puma or maybe a Palmera 14!

This is how I justify things to myself. I'm an idiot. Of course when you buy 20 razors in a period of 7 months we're talking a couple years of justifying costs.

    But I don't care. I'm having a blast.

Considering I used to replace my $40 electric razor every, oh, 2-3 years, I gave up justifying this in terms of cost savings LONG ago...

I couldn't agree more. I'm actually not doing too bad on cost. Despite having about 10 straight razors (I'm honestly note sure on the number, factoring in the trades, sales of DE stuff to fund more straights, and Ebay specials coming in) I haven't spend more than $100. While I may not be saving money, I am certainly building a collection at a good price
