Default Maybe I'm just a bad person but...

Does anyone else kind of have a feeling of superiority over the mindless masses dragging what can, at best, be described as rusty plowshares over their faces every morning? I mean we (particularly here at SRP) use (in many cases) blades older than our grandparents and sharp as, well, a razor, to shear the hair from our faces. Not only is it less painful, but when practiced without the crazy out of control RAD most of us have, it is cheaper too. Some days I just can't help but feel superior. I just can't help it.

Have a Guinness on the house.

Superior? Not really. I shave alone.

I always say that if there was no SRP tomorrow, that I would still get up and enjoy shaving with my straight razors. To me it really is not a superior feeling, but a self indulgence and personal pleasure and It helps start the day just feeling good about myself.

    Enjoy!!

As best as i can describe it .... I enjoy the SR shave but i really enjoy it because my razor has a history,it was used before, it was restored by craftsmen here,i care for it so it can continue to have its place in now my history maybe my son will use it and continue its history.. its not disposeable and gone in a week! it has a story and with care it will last probably longer than me...

Exactly! I love the history associated with my razors too. It's a huge drawing point. And I feel like I'm continuing a lost art. Neither of my grandfathers nor my father shave(d) with a straight razor, so it's kind of like I'm resurrecting something long gone.

    Gentlemen,

I have always held this opinion: who am I to feel superior over anyone?

Shaving with a straight razor, therefore, does not make me feel superior to men who use other means to shave. It is what I prefer, for me, because shaving with a straight razor reflects me to myself.

The great Mozart said (I have used this quote before on SRP): "I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feeling."

    Regards,

    Obie
