Thanked: 235I wouldn't enter. I'm far too confident in the shaving abilities of others here.

A Theoretical Question
Gentlemen,
No, I would not enter.
One of the joys of shaving with a straight razor is the reflective tone the art sets. To me, art is not a contest. It is the reflection of the artist's inner voice without a posted speed limit.
I skilfully maneuver a magnificent yet dangerous work of art over my face for my daily shaving ritual. What I consider important, therefore, is not whether I get the best shave faster than anyone else. It is to get the best shave I can for myself — at my own pace.
At the same time, gentlemen, I encourage those of you who want to participate in this contest to go for it. If it is important to you, do it and maybe the best man win. Please do be careful, though. You have two ears and one nose. That's a good number to keep, so let's not have any creative math here.
Regards,
Obie

If I want to compete with others I'll do it with a small bore prone rifle or a fishing rod, not a straight razor.

I agree with the "shaving is not a race/sport" philosophy (I too have rushed and been...painfully unhappy...with the results).
Rather than a contest, perhaps a gallery of photo/video can be established to "showcase/highlight" people's shaving endeavors. It could be the step beyond the SOTD. I think the broad spectrum of talent, equipment, and faces would make a more interesting exhibit than contest (like the Louvre of shaving...?).

Thanked: 11As i would not enter a comp, i would like to see it, but i do think it would be unfair, as many of you have said the differance in beards, no one has the same facial structures and i love the fact that i shave my face slowly it relaxes me and i've only been shaving with a straight for about a month now, beside my wifes legs i don't think i would shave someone else's face..unless i went to school for it!

Thanked: 335What a wonderful idea! But I think we should have a honing contest first.
Oh, would you need to be present to win?

I wouldn't enter since I don't have the speed skills for such a contest. I think the winner of such a contest would be that one guy, Willy. Remember Willy? Can someone dig up that youtube vid Willy (I think his last name was Hueser or something) where he shaves completely in less than three minutes IIRC?

Thanked: 293I think I could get a good shave done quickly. It'd depend on the prize.

Here's the thread on Willy, who I was referring to. I think he'd be a contender.
