I plan it all the time! I really get a joy out of shaving now that I use a straight razor!

Depends on how much time I'll have I guess. When I decide to shave at night I'll take my time and pick out the scuttle or cup, brush, preshave, soap or creme, etc. I have to say I'll chew up an hour easily from the time I start to think about shaving until I clean up the sink and put away the blade. That's excessive though. If I only have little time I'll just go with what seems to have become my hot standbys (AOS preshave oil, Crema Creme, older brush, one of the Fillys, and SkinFood aftershave balm. And all other times it just depends upon what new blade I might have or what soap I've forgotten about and just found. These are the times I enjoy - pawing through the shave box for a blade I haven't used in a while, looking for forgotten soaps, and realizing that there are way too many things under the sink that I've forgotten about - but it's fun and I'm constantly surprised, sort of like Christmas every few days :-)

Currently all I have in a "shave ready" state is my shavette. I've picked up a few razors off ebay as well as just got 2 scuttles (which should arrive in the next week). I've already been pondering this "can't wait to get that Fromm special 72, Bartman, etc. honed up". Since I've got the scuttles coming I'll need to start looking into some good soap from TGQ or some of the other custom makers. So yeah. I can say with 100% certainty that I'll be doing the same thing you are.

personally I rotate my razors and soaps so there is no forethought. Its only my aftershave that I grab after shaving. I've been straight shaving long enough that I don't really dwell on the stuff anymore but then again i really never did.

I like to contemplate which setup to use in advance, I also have a backup handy as well (I often shave at the gym, soI do have to plan in advance).

Can't say I plan my shaves a great deal, more like I run a bath and look forward to a shave afterwards while I'm laid soaking.
I use the same shave cream and brush - the only choice I have now is which of my two razors I use. Do I go with my Kropp which is easy to hold and feels solid or do I use the TI which feels small (thinner tang), light and dainty.
