Never seen a 7/8, but I have a couple 6/8. GREAT shavers, in my top 5 easy.

Thanked: 4My gun show Puma is more than 6/8, but I'll have to measure it more closely when I get home this weekend. It might be one of those metric 13/16, I dunno. It's a beautiful shaver, and well worth the $35 or so I got it for.

I can't speak for the DD but I have 2 Pumas a 6/8 and a 4/8 and I love them both. They are really great shavers.

The Gold-ducks are very fine shavers. Keep an eye on the celluloid though...ANY celluloid for that matter.

I'm guessing the scales are celluliod .. what should I be looking out for damage ?

Garry that is indeed celluloid. Not neccessarily a problem, but keep it in the back of your mind and don't simply stow it away for years with other razors. Watch out for a haze of rust forming on the blade, clearly defined by where the scales cover the blade. Also watch out for any odd odors from the scales. When celluloid begins to break down, it emits a corrosive gas that will not only get that razor, but any others that are stored with it. They say store them dark and dry, this slows down the process of celluloid rot. UV rays have been know to accelerate the process. It's not if, but when. Now that I've got you worried, I have a bunch of razors with celluloid scales, many of which are ducks, and only two have begun showing signs of deterioration. One was a Wonderedge, sadly enough, and the other is a Temperite by Case with the translucent gold-ish scales. Luckily I caught both of them quickly. The Wonder blade is waiting on Bill Ellis to get settled and then it will be sent to him for re-scaling. Hope this helps...
