    Steve,

    If you are going to soak your DE in bleach, mix it with water down to a 10% bleach solution. Bleach can and will tarnish or eat away at the finish.

    I bought a strop today. Now I have to figure out when is a good time for a hospital stay.

    Just remember to take your time, use small strokes, and be very mindful of the tip! In no time at all you'll be using a straight every day that you're not in a hurry.

    Be sure to anchor it securely. I use a radiator hose clamp to secure my strops to the bedroom door handle.

    And if you hang them on a door handle, be sure to lock the door so no one can open it while you are stropping!
