Next razor
You guys have any votes for my next razor...all I'm considering are these, none of which I'm all that excited about. I like these but the first two are stainless....

and this one, because I don't own a TI

I think its nuts to buy a razor though if I'm not excited about it...anyone have any other more interesting, exciting ideas? I know Vlad won't sell me that violin razor so what else out there is neat...ideas please. I do prefer new as opposed to NOS or Ebay. But I'm open to some ideas. PLEASE!!!!

Alan, the TI is sweet - beautiful wood and a singing razor as well. I'm a little biased here because I don't own a wooden-handled razor, so my next one will be just that.

Alan, I have a 6/8 TI Kingwood and it is a great shaver. Originally I was sent the 5/8 Olivewood by mistake and it did look very nice but I returned it for the one I ordered. I like TI steel.
The violin is going to go on e-bay soon. I will let you know when it does. I honestly will be very (pleasantly) surprised if there is interest in it so you will probably wind up the winning bidder.
One thing I can say is that it is a superb shaver. So much so that I regret putting this blade into the scales, which probably won't be used as an every day shaver. So far I honed it twice and test shaved each time. I was surprised that both times it shaved on par with the Pierre Thiers collectable which is the best shaver in my rotation.
Having honed it twice, from the bevel up, convinced me that it is not a fluke but must be something about the steel of the blade that gives it such a smooth shaving edge. I am going to hunt on e-bay for another W&B Gentleman's Razor to see if it as good a shaver.
Who knows maybe this is another one of those sleeper blades that Lynn won't talk about so it does not raise their value on e-bay.

Thanked: 0I think the TI olive wood would be my first choice, the Dovo Renaissance would be a very close second. The reason that the TI takes first place for me is that it is carbon steel and the Dovo is stainless steel.
You have picked my top wish list razors, so I think that you have good taste.
Let us know what you decide/

AF,
How about one of the TI special additions from
Classic Shaving, unless you are set on stainless.
Of course I suppose I'm too new give any practical
advise other than why buy something that you aren't
really excited about.
You may not want to jump the gun and buy a razor
just for the sake of owning another. Good things
come to those who wait.
Regards,
Terry

to hold me over...
and Vlad your right there probably won't be much interest in the violin razor even though it shaves well...I'm guessing no one will bid more that $400 for it...LOL
Yea...I"m not that into the stainless....Last edited by AFDavis11; 02-11-2006 at 11:49 PM.

I think if I was looking for a new razor now it would definately be a TI, I think they are just superior to the Dovo's. I would consider either the frameback or one of the two with the egyptian motif's.

Let's make a deal.
Alan:
If the violin sells for anything over $250 on e-bay and you are not the winning bidder then you provide me with a blade of your choice and $50 bucks to cover materials, consumables and postage I will make another one for you. Scales, box and all.
It will be close but not identical since I make them to the blade and only follow a template for rough cutting, after that it is all by eyeball. I am certain it will be as good or better than this one. Afterall, I am gaining experience as I go.
It is the least I can do to compensate the first fan of my theme scales.

Your being modest...but I may just take you up on the offer...LOL. I'm always willing to take advantage of someone...LOL. So from the sounds of it I need to bid up to $249, get out bid, and then send you $50. That'll work! Ok, just kidding...I can't wait to see what happens with that on Ebay. If it sells well will you start your own business?
