Lynn, I cannot comment on the Maestro's razors. I wish I could!! I doubt any "production" razor could hold a candle to a true hand made custom, even more so with the higher end steels. As far as buying a razor "off the rack", I will vote TI. French politics notwithstanding. I am not a fan of the ways of their government, but I won't shun the products of their people because of it. Hell, if Iran made a mean badger brush, I'd probably buy one. I will give you this, though, the three TI razors I have are from the upper end of their product range. I cannot comment on those aside from the "Sheffield Steel" from Ray and the "Eagle Brand" that Howard at the Knifecenter carries. These two lines are incredible razors to me. I'm curious to try one of their sub-$100 ones to see if there is a difference.

Yeah, but could you ever turn your back to a "Mean Iranian Badger Brush"? Pardon the smartass remark!

Go for the TI. There are lots of great German blades out there, but finding a used TI is like finding a needle in a haystack. You'll also be releasing anti-french sentiments from your heart. Freedom from descrimination, after all, is one of the best freedoms of all.

It really hurts to agree with you...in fact I can feel my stomach doing somersalt right now ...I really don't like French politics and how "they" want our aid, but seem to despise our culture. I guess you are right, there probably arent to many people working for TI who are cursing the USA as they go about their daily lives.

Thanks for the words of wisdom...

    The TI factory, France:

"Zee Americans -- zey are pigs, non?"

    "Exactement, Pierre!! Les cochons!!"

X-man, did you know that the Middle East is the source of only nine or ten percent of North America's oil? Can you guess where the rest comes from?

As I understand it Venezuela is a nice chunk, as is Texas, but Alberta's got a lion's share herself. Did you know that Canada's the number one oil exporter to the US? Bigger than the Saudi's. We export more than we use. Is that cuz America's addicted to oil? I think I heard that somewhere. We export lots of natural resources to the states don't we?

Canada. Yes. That's what I was hinting at.

The Dovo's are a better finished razor (much more attractive) but the TI's are just better quality blades and shave better. Does that mean the Dovo's don't give great shaves , no not at all its just a matter of degree. I have several of both and that's the way I see it.
