Welcome to the fraternity
Razor size is really a very personal thing the only problem is that as a newbie you really don't have enough experience to know which size is right for you.
5/8s is considered the classic size and I would advise either going with a 5/8s or maybe a 6/8s but I would stay away from smaller or larger razors until you've gained some experience. You really can't go wrong with either of these two sizes. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

02-14-2006, 03:52 AM #12I've looked at the TI and Dovo ranges at the Classicshaving website and like the look of the DOVO Extra Hollow Ground "Singing" Razor, 5/8 in African Thuyawood but its out of stock! Also looked on the Shavingshop website and really like the look of a 7/8 Discuswerfer 1000 or 7/8 Mella "Diamond" 105 - rosewood.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet that you end up with all the razors you're looking at in a few short months!

Thanks for all the help. I'll do some thinking the next few days re the 5/8, 6/8 or 7/8 options - many different opinions and am sure good advice.
Whatever, I decide I'll let you all know.

Thanked: 2Welcome Silverfoxone,
I am sure everyone here will give you a good opinion. Although no one will probly agree. But just think when you find the razor of your dreams another one comes out. Then you also must figure out all your other shaving needs. So many choices for creams aftershaves skin food and aftershave balms. not to mention soaps mugs brushes and such.
Tony Miller at www.thewellshavedgentleman.com Has all your stroping and most paste needs. He also has some starter kits to consider. Classic shaving also has lots of goodies to drool over for all your shaving needs. Tony offers a Dovo starter as well as a Timor (spelling) set with everything except for creams and after shaves in it. He will also hone the razor for you before shipping.
