    Default Ebay Buying-New Guys

Hey Guys, Keep an eye on what you are buying on ebay. I just saw a Red Star razor up to $127.00. The spine on this thing had a tone of honing or grinding on it and was significantly flattened. Don't bid them up just cuz they're shiney!! Ask questions in here if you want. This thing is probably not work $20 or so. Have fun. Lynn

good advice .. I've actually wished a couple of times I hadn't bid on some ebay razors .. luckily I was outbid on them but after reading bits n pieces here I'm so glad I was ..
So far Ive been satisfied with the ones Ive won , theres a German Gentleman sells some lovely NOS ( I think ) I picked up a fantastic bartmann 7/8 .
And a Dubl duck Goledge at the weekend .. I got great advice here about the celuliod - to pay attention and keep my eyes on it ..... something I should have known as old Stratocasters used cellulose paint ..

    thanks again Garry

Garry, how old is your Strat?? They still use Nitrocellulose on Relics, and some of the Limited Editions/Custom Shop Guitars... and I think I have nitro on my Squier Strat's neck too...

Valuable advice, Lynn. Let the buyer beware. I got lucky with the one razor I've won on Ebay. It came shave ready from Germany, and I'm very happy with it.

Of course, I've also seen tons of crap that I wouldn't touch with a twenty foot pole.

Sadly I don't own either a relic strat or any strats ... guitar playing is my #1 passion .. I have a pretty good knowledge of them .. and probablyy more guitars than I have razors .. ;-) varying from PRS EG's to ESP customs in 6 , 7 and 12 strings versions ;-)

Well, guitar making was MY #1 passion. And playing them comes #2... it beats shaving since I play every day but shave every other And my guitar and razor count is equal, I have 8 of both. You gotta get a Strat for yourself, it's a great guitar...

I have gotten a few pretty good razors on ebay but I don't spend a lot with 2 kids in Parochial school I am limited.

    Unhappy

I recieved my Dubl Duck Goldedge on Friday from across the pond ..
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
fro the item description and pics to a newbie like me looked great , the sellers description feedback all pointed to this being a good buy .. I think it cost me $66 and $10 P&P .. much to my dismay when I opened the parcel and to my horror the blade looked as if it had been sharpened by a grinder !!! I triede sent to a few passes
over my belgian blue and then onto the yellow coticule .. no improvement . Not knowing how hard the steel is and still being wet around the ears in the honing dept .. Im not sure if the razor can be repaired ( ie. maybe it requires more honing ) or should it be sent to the back of the cupboard .. it's difficult to see from the pic but the face of the spine and above the bevel have cleaqrly been ground
