Is this going to become an obsession??
My fiance kept saying I needed a hobby and I stumbled on to this by accident...the more I read, the more I think she is going to want a divorce when she realizes how much this new "hobby" is going to cut into our budget and my time lol...
she already thinks I must be talking to another woman considering how much time I have spent talking online the las few days. In fact (sorry in advance Lynn), when I was chatting sunday night, just as I think I convinced her that I was talking about shaving with a bunch of guys, she walked by my monitor and saw everyone say hi to Lynn when he entered the chat, she just looked at me with that "Im going to hurt you in your sleep look" and walked away
But hey, at least I was able to continue chatting in peace!
At any rate it sounds like this "hobby" will become an obsession, does anyone elses significant other, have trouble understanding it?
Any words of advice in advance???

Will it become an obsession? Yes.
My SO, though, is very supportive. Of both this and my penchant for cigars and such. She merely looks at me and laughs when I tell her about the new shaving cream I'm trying or something to that effect.
Fortunately, other than money and time in the morning, it's a pretty harmless hobby.

JL,
Welcome to my world. Yes, get used to it, straight razors are an obsession--and one that I might add, I have no desire to be cured of. Your SO will never understand. You will develop other hobbies--she will not understand those either. They will all be time consuming and expensive...get used to it . Afterall, it's the little things that make life worth living .

Ohhhhh yes it most definitely is an obsession. My wife thinks I am a nut job (other people think that too) and asks me how many razors do I need? I have yet to honestly answer her. As for Lynn, show her his video, if that's a woman it is the toughest looking woman I have ever seen. - No offense meant Lynn. I just like my women sans moustache and beard.

Aye
Obsession? Easily! Especially when you consider all the ancillary items. And listen mate, if she starts gettin' up on you about it all, remind her how much time and money she spends primping and preening with the powder and paint. Of course, you might have to earn your way way out of the doghouse if you put it the wrong way today.

In response to your question whether this "hobby" becomes an obsession...in a word, YES.
Just look at it this way. The initial outlay may seem a bit costly, but other than creams, balms, and colognes, the rest of the tools should last you a lifetime. Not only that, compare this intial cost outlay to the continuing cost of those Gillette thingies and it doesn't seem so bad. Of course, that's just my way of justifying spending so much money on my, ehem, hobby...

I like to think of it as a disease. I've only been at
it a couple of weeks and already have a second razor
on the way. It could very well be at the PO in the morning.

Terry
