Default Barber towels or Dish towels...is there a difference??

I can buy barber towels for a few dollars each, or I can get some dish towels at walmart for much cheaper. These would just be used to wipe hair and shave soap from the razor while shaving, and possible while steaming my face with hot water.

    Does it really matter?

I use heavy terry dish towels when shaving my F.I.L. They work fine. When shaving myself I generally don't use a towel til after the shave. When shaving my F.I.L. I use them for both steaming and wiping during the shave.

Nothing special about the shave towels. I have some and they are just small towels. Save your money and use it on equipment that does make a difference.

The barber towels are a herringbone weave, and the advantage to them is they don't leave lint behind. Now, if you are getting a perfect shave, that won't matter, but if you aren't, and especially if you have a heavy beard, you may wind up with wisps of lint on your face. Having said that...I use inexpensive towels from Target and WalMart.

I just use Wallyworld face cloths for my shaves. The white terrycloth ones are cheap and work well. I have a heavy beard, BTW.

Buy the walmart towels (as much as I hate supporting malwort), then use the money you save on a towel warmer !

I just use hot moist towels to heat my face before lathering and then to wipe the razor on while shaving. I rinse only with water. I use standard wash cloths. Having said that, my eyes are open for a good deal on a stack of barber towels for no other reason than I simply want them. Shaving advantage? Probably not, but what the hell.

Yeah...a cheap microwave is about $79 bucks, and looks to be about the same size, or smaller!

I will say this risking scorn from the group...

Walmart takes the money that other business give to their employees, for health care and decent wages, to open up other Walmarts. Because other business cannot compete against Walmart, while giving their employees a good shake, they must make a decision; either, screw the employee, or go out of business.

I would rather pay a few dollars more, than support Walmart. When tempted by cheap prices, I ask my self "Do you really want to help enslave your fellow human?" Until the majority stands up against evil, evil will reign.

If a business does not care about its employees, then more than likely it does not care about me, just my money...

Ok, I will get off my soap box. I just loathe Walmart...

    Mark.
