    Were those strops any good when they were new? I would think that the leather would have been too thin and somewhat short . . . or else one would have to really pull to get it taught enough.

    I drifted over to the e-bay seller's forum hoping to find some useful information. What I found was an ongoing thread of "You know you are an e-bay seller when ...", goes on for pages.

    "Your neighbours and familly check with you before throwing anything out"

    This one hit me because a lot of e-bay items are just that: garbage.

    Why would someone want to sell a throw-away for a few bucks is beside me. It is cheaper and less effort to just let it stay in the garbage. Especially when you consider that the good stuff is at the bottom .

    e-bay, while creating lots of new commerce and trade opportunities, has also managed to turn thousands into Fred Sanford.

    It looks like that strop was dusted for prints...? Maybe it was the murder weapon!
