Though I can't imagine exactly what your sacrifice was, I can surely imagine being with you for that shave. We so very appreciate your generosity and the story.

    Thank You,
    David

Just read your story Gregg...every time I read stories like yours I'm brought back down to earth and reminded how every day of peace and joy I experience with my family and friends was bought and paid for by amazing Americans like yourself and all the other vets I've had the honor of knowing or at least chatting with.
I live in the metro NY area where the concept of loyalty, patriotism, honor and duty has been mocked and ridiculed by a generation ignorant parasites, but if only one out of a hundred men in this great country are of your caliber then I know that our nation is safe on on the right course. Gregg, thank you for sharing your story. Every war is different but the ways men and women learn to help endure it are similar. Mine was Vietnam and your story brought back many memories. For me, my way of relaxing and de-stressing was comradeship with fellow musicians-we got borrow Special Services instruments sometimes and played music for our friends. I made a couple of Bluegrass converts out of guitar players (I play banjo) Others found comfort in their religion and formed Bible study groups. We shared our "care packages" of food and snacks with each other (some guys wouldn't!) when they came. Some played pickup games of basketball. Many spent their little bits of spare time writing long letters home and reading letters from their loved ones and friends. We were all just trying to survive the best way we could. One popular group conversation was "what are you gonna do when we get back to "the world" as we called home. I am sure that throughout the history of war that was a popular pastime! Thanks again for your story and thank you for your service. Óró, Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile.
In Gaelic that means "You are welcome home!"
