I've got to the age that when I look in the shaving mirror I wonder why my father is looking back at me.
Otherwise, I probably let my mind wander too much and one day it's not going to return.'Living the dream, one nightmare at a time'

I probably focus most on where the toe of my razor is, the angle, and the pressure. I'm really happy with my shaves, but there's always something to improve, ya know? Think about THAT while you shave!

For me, the most enjoyable feature of a straight razor shave is the total emersion concentration that simply drives all other thoughts away. Zen-like is an apt description.
Was not always so, as in the beginning there were thoughts of blade angle, etc., etc. But those thoughts have also been driven into the background. Still there, but running in the background.
I marvel at the sharpness and smoothness, how nice the lather feels and smells, and how enjoyable the experience. I emerge from my den calm and refreshed after my shave.

My zen moment of the day.
I concentrate on where the edge of the razor is. If I wander mentally I get cut.
Kind of like “focus on the front sight” when I shoot.
