Thanked: 8If you asked me a month ago I would have said none. I think I have about 10 now of which 7 are shave ready. Oh.. I've go a few more on the way.
How does this happen ?. I mean how many faces does a guy have ?.
Apart from the straights, I built a new cabinet, aquired a few mugs, soaps, creams etc..Strop and paddle strop from Tony, hone, even a Dremel for restoration. Crikey.

Thanked: 4How Many??
I started out by buying a razor just to have one in my Living History kit, never intending to shave with it. That was around April 1. Now, I have three that are shave ready in my rotation, one that's in rehab, and one that needs some work on the edge (I can't get it to hold the edge on it's full length).
I also have two on the way that I have obtained from a member, and two that I have being held until I can send the payment for them.
I guess I'd have to sum it up by saying, "Not enough!"

I have 3.
A Genco Red Cross given to me by Ed (ForestryProf),
a Griffon "57" that I just won in the giveaway,
and a J.R. Torrey that my father-in-law bought for me at a flea market. (The Torrey is my first attempt at restoration; I bought a Dremel and some radial bristle discs for the task.)
The Genco and Griffon are both great! For now, I use them sparingly, because I don't have any way to hone them, but I asked for a Norton and a pre-pasted paddle strop for my first Father's Day. Hopefully, my wife will come through and I'll be able to officially put these razors in my "rotation".

As of today, I'm up to 5:
1) Taylor's Eye Witness 6/8 (my ABSOLUTE fav)
2) Pearlduck 5/8 with Dovo scales
3) Wade and Butcher (looks like 1/2) spike point 6/8 (needs scales+a polish+a honing)
4) Boker full hollow 6/8 spike (it would need to be ground down to 5/8 to become a shaver again b/c uneven honing. I'll clean it and sell it as a display piece)
5) Walker 6/8 (looks like 1/4) notched humpback (i need to hone out some nicks, give it a polish and a final honing)
Another W&B 6/8 spike point is on the way and SHOULD arrive by the end of this week.
I'm not counting the pakistani as it's only used for training and experiments. Last night, I notched the blade on purpose and then honed it out on the oilstone. Worked like a charm. Walker's next

When I first joined here about two months ago I mentioned I'd only need *one* razor. I think my words were "I refuse to go over the edge like the lot of you, one razor, one brush, one shaving cream" or some such rubbish.
I'm now ashamed to admit that I have four razors: a 4/8 kronpunkt from Gary, a 5/8 W&B I bought off eBay, a feather (in the drawer now) and a starter Dovo purchased shave-ready from Tony. Of these, I like the way the kronpunkt feels in my hand the best, I like the look of the W&B the best, and I like the shave from the starter Dovo the best (simply because at the moment it's the sharpest tool in the shed, so to speak).
I'm also exceedlingly ashamed to admit that I also own 2 brushes now, 2 shaving creams (soon to add at least two more from Trumpers), two shaving soaps (including my old standby williams soap), a paddle strop, a hanging strop, and 2 different aftershave balms. I've managed to stick with my Royall Lyme though and haven't branched out there to try any of the bay rum or others.
I hereby publically admit that I have to eat my words when I stated I would only use the "one brush, one razor" etc. Anyone have some catsup?

You are all a bunch of stinking straight razor hoarders!!!!! If I could just get Ebay to cooperate I may get my first razor hehehehe. Somebody sell me a nice 6/8 spike hehehehehe.
I am already addicted and I do not own a single razor yet. I am just short on cash currently ....the collection will come ... oh yes it will come.
