Thread: what are your thoughts on method shaving?

so i somehow got caught up watching method shaving videos all morning on youtube.. and frankly.. it really grosses me out.. watching a guy cover himself in lather like he's a boy playing around with his dad's shave foam is really off-putting.. he's got the stuff everywhere.. it's up his nose.. in his ears.. halfway up both his arms.. down his shirt.. it's just silly.. and the speed he's attacking his face with is unbelievable.. it's just really crazy stuff..

what does anyone else think about method shaving and the whole hydrolast range? also.. what's the deal the the shave cloth?

OK, that was disturbing... Looks like the guy was eating Ice Cream... This rates right there with watching someone brushing their teeth...

As fast as he was shaving, does he even have a blade in the razor?

I enjoy the "How To" videos about stropping or making lather that I have seen other places...

Good question Victor. The so-called method shaving system is something that I don't ever recall being discussed here at SRP, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I read about what it is, maybe it's time for a refresher.

I think it's all to do with water and keeping it on the skin??
The products allegedly keep water at the acid mantle of the skin protecting this delicate layer from irritation. The so called stretching the mix and a very light touch/ reduction method should aid a daily glass smooth irritation free shave. This is the claim anyway, would like to see the science to back up the claims. I don't know, I'm open minded.
The cost of products alone creates a smell of marketing hype for me, I could be wrong, I need convincing. By the way, if I used a feather like that I'd be doing diy cosmetic surgery!
