preferred time of the day to shave?
quite positive this has been discussed several time before.. but i couldn't find anything with the search feature.. and i figured a poll would be fun..
when do you prefer to shave? i figure every time of the day has it's benefits.. but ultimately.. we all decide on one.. here's how it breaks down for me..
morning shave: mainly just a nice thing to wake up to and it does wake you up. you start the day doing something you love and take on your day with fresh face.. i enjoy it.. but not as much as the others..
afternoon shave: i fell in love with the afternoon shave during the summer.. i'd wait till high noon and do a nice "cold water shave" with c.o. bigelow and finish it up with some refrigerated witch hazel.. i had planned on getting some of that glacial alcolado stuff or some osage rub.. but never got around to it.. maybe next summer..
nighttime shave: this is my preferred shave time.. i work all day with children and having snot wiped on me or sticky candy stuck to me is a regular thing.. i play all day and at the end of the day.. i'm exhausted, dirty, and overly in need of some me time.. so after all children are asleep... i take a long hot shower, drink a few stella, and enjoy a nice enjoyable shave.. after my day.. there is nothing quite as enjoyable as crawling into bed smelling of bay rum or old spice..
although i enjoy shaving whenever i can.. my vote goes for the nighttime shave.

Thanked: 1195Nighttime for me. I shower after work anyway, and it's my "me" time after the kids have gone to bed. Plus I enjoy the extra sleep in the morning.
However, on weekends I do enjoy a late morning or afternoon shave, especially if I'm going out.

Victor,
My preferred time of the day to shave is the morning. The pre-shave preparation, shave and post-shave ablutions wake me up and make me feel great enough to face a stressful and exhausting day."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

I take the morning showers and prefer to shave after a shower, so via transitive property, my preferred time to shave is in the morning.

Whenever "the coast is clear"
I'll shave whenever there's no one else around...no
distractions. Usually, that's in the morning, after
everyone else is out and about.
But...sometimes...it's after everyone has gone to bed.
The criteria...the requirement...is peace and quiet.
No distractions = fewer mishaps. No guarantee,
but it helps."If you come up to it, and you just can't do it, then that's jolly well where you are."

Hi,
I see I am the lone voter for the afternoon shave !!
I like to shave when I get home from work ( I work 0600 - 1600 hrs), as I find the shave the ideal way to relax and start the evening off on a high note
The straight shave still looks presentable throughout the next day; if I have to meet clients, I will have a quick touch up with a safety razor before going to work.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

Thanked: 983Ah morning shaves for me. Had it drilled into me years ago as a soldier to shave every morning. Or get a boot in the arse and shave, then shave again, followed by another shave just to make sre that shaving in the morning was what was actually required. Shaving in the field consisted of warming up some water, slap some on the face, dip in your trusty disposable and have at it. Irritation central.

I get up a few minutes earlier to make sure I have time for a morning shave. It starts the day off right and gets me in the right frame of mind to go to work.
Weekends can sometimes be in the afternoon depending on what I'm up to and when I get up, but during the week its the mornings.

I voted for night time as I find shaving a great way to unwind and relax after work and I can get away with going to work with a shadow. I don't mind shaving of a morning on my days off as I am not pressed for time so the whole experience can remain relaxing.
