All I wanna know is exactly how YOU do it. From purchase to shave. What are all the steps, how do YOU hone, how do YOU assess the blade, how do YOU shave.

For some reason I'm really interested in seeing your house, your family, even the kids that I know shave with a straight also. I don't have any of those so that may be my interest but, just seeing your bathroom in the first Vid was amazing. You might as well of had straight razor wallpaper with all the blades I saw.

I like what I have read so far!

I would suggest a section on honing razors with a "smile" and the big old wedges. Also the razors where the toe is worn and rounded.
There are two broad classifications, new razors and used razors. Perhaps a section on how to deal with each?

Backhoning. Its uses and how to.
    Circular honing to remove nicks.
Lapping a stone to make it flat.
    Cleaning a hone.
Refreshing a razors edge that has dulled a bit from shaving.
After the shave cleaning and storage of a razor.
    How to prevent rust....different products.
High carbon steel vs. stainless steel vs ATS-34 vs damascus

You probably already have all of this but this is just my brain dump for the evening.

Thanks for making the video Lynn. It will help many people.

I'll have to agree with X on this...stropping. I'm no "honemeister", but I do strop every time I shave. When you start with a shave ready razor, other than razor technique, it's the most important thing. I wonder how many good edges have been ruined with poor stropping?

Certainly, you'll want to include the "shaving experience"... ie, prep, lather, hot towels, etc., etc.,,, and of course, the act of shaving itself. Chins present a big shaving challenge to many of us... I know there always seems to be a whisker or two that survive in the cleft of my chin

Of course, the "equipment" area is equally important... strops and stropping, razor selection, care, honing, storage... most of this has already been detailed by others in this thread, but I'll throw in care/use of barber hones as another possible topic.

Gee... sounds like maybe a video isn't enought. We need a miniseries !!!

I don't know if your computer resources allow this, but it's be great if the video could be in Quicktime format as well as in Media format.

    Thanks for getting our input!

Or DivX... Most new DVD players are DivX-certified anyways.

Yes this is a point which keeps popping up. Again last night in the chat. Seems like every other new guy has to ruin an edge on the strop before getting it right.

I have to agree with Joe on this point. Equipment is very important but if you don't know how to use it it's pointless. I for one was helped immensely by the first shaving video you made. I saw several descriptions of the proper technique for holding a razor but did not really understand until I saw it. I guess you could say a picture is worth 1000 words. I still have trouble with the proper grip for going against the grain on my neck. I usually fumble around until I find a grip that doesn't make me feel like I am going to fillet my neck. I would recommend this be included in the new video.

I seem to see a lot of problems with shaving the neck, so I suggest one section concentrating on that. I would include grips for doing under the jawline from all different angles.

What would be intersting is showing the complete restoration process of an Ebay razor. To combine problems, it could be one with a chip and rust stains (they're still one of my biggest issues). It doesn't have to be long and drawn out. You could do it like they do a cooking show by showing a little (the important part) of each step without showing everything.
