I don't know of any pre-made templates for scales.
Here is what I found helpful when trying to come up with a shape.
Browse the web stores and e-bay razor auctions for inspiration.
Sketching an outline of existing scales and modifying it to refine the shape to your liking.
Trace the blade on paper then sketch the shape of the scales on top. Playing with different curves and shapes and trying different shapes for the wedge and pivot ends.
Then there is always doing a rough outline in the standard shape but 1/8" larger all around and then refining it while sanding them to shape. Sometimes accidental shaping can lead to something pleasant. You'd need a belt sander for the shaping otherwise it goes too slow to allow experimentation.
