That's exactly what I'm doing Vlad.

I use an old scale mostly just for the curves, make it fatter and change the end shapes to suit.
I've even tried tracing down one side of the scale then pivoting the scale slightly to give a slightly wider wedge shape.
I've found if you keep the curves similar to regular scales then blade fitting, hole drilling etc is pretty easy.

I've got a pretty mean set of scales on the drawing board at the moment, waiting for a big 7/8 to suit. Here's a clue, think "Bovver Boys". Pic to follow, eventually.
