Ok...I'll hate you cuz you're sexy. Sniping's smart, but aggravating. lol Sniping in person is ok. The ones I hate are the people who aren't even there when the auction ends. I guess I shoulda said I hate sniping programs.Last edited by Joe Chandler; 06-08-2006 at 06:26 AM.

I use a sniping program, it's a time saver. Try it, it might grow on you.

I don't understand the big deal about sniping/people complaining about it.
The only reason sniping exists is because there are people who are not disciplined enough to stick to a maximum bid. They suffer from the 'gotta have it' syndrome and drive the price up this way.
Snipers, on the other hand, are more disciplined because they choose a maximum and then stick to it (not that they have a choice in 3 - 5 seconds). They also serve the buyers' community because they don't participate in driving up the auction price early.
People who have strong negative feelings about snipers usually lost an auction to one. These feelings are irrational. Had their maximum bid been high enough they would have won regardless. And if they didn't think the item was worth more 5 minutes before the auction end, why did they suddenly think it was worth more 3 seconds before the end, after the sniper beat them ?
So, yeah, in a nutshell, if you're a sniper, you don't care about other snipers - the higher maximum wins. If you're not, you should love the sniper because he/she doesn't participate in driving the price up.
Therefore, if you meet a sniper, buy him a beer, he's your friend
