    Hello bcon1205:

My good friend LinacMan has an excellent suggestion. I have that bowl and it works perfectly well for making good lather. Also, you could possibly face lather.

    Regards,

    Obie

I made a wood bowl for travel, but now I just palm lather or face lather. It is fast, convenient and lees to pack.

I like to travel light. Generally I'll either lather on my hand, or if there is one conveniently available, a saucer or something similar.
If you must take one, perhaps a small stainless steel one would stand up best to the rigours of travel.

I have a small candy dish that I bought from Meijer's for $1.98.

It is clear glass with 3 small feet and about 3.5" in diameter. What I really like about it is that the entire inside is covered with dimples like a golf ball. Lather really whips up nice in it.

I used to take my SRD Blood Orange when traveling, since I could keep the soap in it and screw the cover on to store it. I looked for something smaller and tried a photo fiter case but it was way to shallow. I'm thinking of trying a shoe polish can. It may take a while before I have an empty one. I don't polish my footwear very often.

I face lather when traveling, or just use water.

For travel I use tubed creams and just face lather. It is less to carry and more compact than hard soaps and bowls/scuttles etc.
At home I use any of my selection of creams/soaps and still tend to face lather. I have some cheap Target/Kmart (similar to Wal-mart) bowls, but don't tend to use them at all.

I face lather when I travel it just makes sense. but if you are looking for some thing basic that will do the job and is pretty much unbreakable get on of those enameled tin camping cups you can drop your soap in the bottom of on and away you go.
