    Because eBay's built in tools automatically rebid every time your bid is topped, so everyone then ends up running up the price... they can see your max bid just by running it up, etc.

    A sniper waits until the last few seconds of the auction and then places a bid at your maximum so it removes (or radically reduces) the emotions involved and usually keeps the price lower.

    I would venture to think this is a 4/8 with very little honing wear. The problems are obvious but still somewhat unkown. The nasty looking area left of the "C' could clean up easy or take for ever. The edge looks like you will loose a fair amount to establish a new bevel. Also there is the other side. Is this side the best or the worst? I might pay $8.00 including shipping if I had that warm and fuzzy feeling you are getting.
