This square point is 8/8 so there will be no fitting up the nose! I manage to do a good side pass under the nose with a round edge. Actually now that Ithink about it, I wonder if I would be more prone to cutting myself with a square edge? I want to find a reason to get a square edge!
If I just go by looks the round edge follows the curves on the scales so much more closely and looks like one beautifully crafted object, I think its just beautiful, but a square edge just seems to be there, almost looking like two separate entities with its differently shaped scales that shouldnt be joined together...I guess what they say is true, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

The tip is slightly rounded so it won't be much of a cutting hazard. It appears that you like the look, so you might as well get it. I only pay attention to the grind of the blade and the features of the steel when looking at blades.

Thanked: 4I prefer the square points, myself. I have only two round points out of the 12 or so that I own.
1 true spike, and about 9 square points, with the other two round. I don't usually even look at a round unless it just blows me away right up front.

Is there a 5/8 roundpoint whose grind/steel are similar to DDs? I'd actually like to give one of those a shot.

Round, square, spike, notch, it doesn't matter to me I like them all. If your going to be proficient in this thing you have to use em all or you'll be missing out on alot.

Currently I have a round and a spike in my shaving rotation. Another round is getting shave-tested this morning and I have a spike and a barber's in the works. However, I'm more comfortable with rounds.
