Thanked: 1160Speaking of topic,I was telling a gal at the bar last night all about straight shaving and SRP,...you should have seen her eyes light up.That's a good reaction. And also I may have made a convert to straight shaving.I was down at the Tobacco shop yesterday as well....I've got all the guys down there intrigued by the idea and one gal who was down there wanted to get a straight blade for leg shaving.I told her all about SRP and she was delighted........again another fine reaction to wetshaving. So alls I kin say about the negative reactors to the art is this . Yep....I think that about covers it .

Back to the topic, Gentlemen.
(If it was in the Finer Things it would be on topic. )

I'm 18 and in university, so I've definitely received my fair share of criticism, especially from my roommate. It can be awkward when they walk by and I'm surfing a site called Straight Razor Place, and I spend the better part of 2 hours watching a razor restoration from beginning to end. Although, I have soft spots for fountain pens, typewriters, records, pocket watches, etc. etc. so that can't help things. I've also had some awkward conversations when guys come into the bathroom and I'm lathering up with a brush, so I've started shaving late at night to avoid that as much as possible. It's nice to finally find a place filled with people who share my obsessions!

Thanked: 1160I guess I have forgotten what it was like to be a teen and the awkwardness of it all. Matt...don't feel weird about your shaving routine. The more confidence you show with it the better you will feel about it.I suspect your peers are giving you jibes because they are jealous that they can't/don't use a straight blade. You will have the last laugh in time. But that being said...there is nothing nicer than a nice peaceful night shave...I didn't give myself the moniker Nightblade for nothin after all.Curious...do ya have a lady friend and if so how does she feel about straight razor shaving ? Most of the ladies love to see a man being a man instead of a boy and it's a fantastic confidence builder.Stick with us kid and you'll be just fine.

In fact I do have a lady friend , I've been dating the same girl for over three years. She is very supportive of everything I do and in fact bought me my first straight razor - a Dovo Prima Klang.
I look forward to shaving with straights for many years to come, I won't be scared away so easily
