BigJim, this post is one of the most true, and spot on that I have read on this forum. Great view and logic.

We were in a discussion of straight shaving and me being very enthusiastic and eager thought to share all that I know about straight shaving. However his reaction was a bit uncomfortable like I made a social faux pas and like I'm in a cult or clan and straight shaving is suppose to be for "old timers".
This is not the first time where I have found this to be challenging, Im always on a look out for straight razors, hones etc and many times people have given me the weird eye.

Do you guys feel the same way, and feel that there is a certain attitude of the society when it comes to straight shaving?

Im sorry if I have touched on an uncomfortable subject, or posted in the wrong category but I rather clarify if its just me or everyone else who feels this way.
I got quite the opposite reaction from my partner @ work. I mentioned that I straight shaved, and he then proceeded to proclaim me "a rennaissance man."

Yeah, dats right y'all...I gets ta wear bigman pants cause I shaves wit da straight blade weeeehawww !!

Wo wo wait a min boys u think its hard to be accepted as a straight shaver, You shoudl try being a 15 yr old that when he brings a girl to his room and the first thing she sees is my strop haning off my deer antlers and my shrine ot my razor and hone and brushes and soaps. Now that takes some explainign and i still get weird looks. and as far as males i dont have to worry i hang around with old people that remember the straights and you guys, Its hard to like a dying hobbie when ur my age and people expect u to be (and i use this phraise verry verry losly) normal. But i wouldt change a thing i am who i am and thats a Pa hick that loves to hunt, fish, trap, and play with a straight razor.

Yes well...It's not a dying hobby by any means. It's a manly ritual that is gaining popularity. What was once old is new.And old people??! I may be old enough to be your father ,but I ain't old or over the hill and when I'm dead,my spirit is gonna carry on and be ornery indeed. And why am I so crazy lad, I take a little offense to that ?? This coming from a good ol' country boy originally from the the cold woods of Northern Michigan who's first car was a boat and has done his fair share of fishing and shooting in his earlier days.
