If a girlfriend sets a precident of buying razors for you, she is a keeper.

    I agree wholeheartedly!

By the way onimaru55, your quote gave me a good laugh. It was unexpected to see a witty pun on a rap lyric in a shaving forum haha - props.

Don't care what other people think. But those who have asked have found it interesting.

I will say that my wife thinks I am a freak for using a straight. Totally doesn't get it. My boss who is a surgeon is timid but curious. I have enjoyed every minute of the rather steep learning curve, and time spent in front of the mirror.

I've never received any bad comments about shaving with a straight-razor.

And my dad gave up ages ago trying to understand!!

The only thing my brothers know about straight razors is the words 'cut throat' and take it very literal and think I'm crazy, then I argue that putting blades that have an electric motor in them is even crazier and they soon shut up...

And some women are turned on by it, and if they aren't, they come around to it

As it's been mentioned, the reactions I get are varied. Some are surprised, some interested and for some others I had to describe what a straight was (and in one instance draw one). Of course, some people don't really care for shaving talk, or shaving for that matter. I understand that, since I never cared about it either until I discovered there was a right way to do it.

I do talk about it as much as I can, first because it's all I do these days: read the forums, shave, shop for supplies, try to restore and hone; and second because I'm trying to create a buzz around it in my city to: group-buy and save on shipping, sell and hone my [eventual] restored straights and trade soaps and creams (oh! and talk about it). So my friends, family and some co-workers hear about it.

Gents, with a lot of hard work, we can raise awareness about such a crucial question.
