I'm 19 and my beard is really spotty, too. It's not particularly thick, but it grows long and irritates me. I also grow some hair on my cheeks. In fact only my 'stache and goatee grow in well. That really started to come in when I was in, like 11th grade, so, like when I was 17.

Thanked: 1195Interesting topic on a shaving forum....
I don't consider myself as having a really heavy beard, average perhaps, but I think I started shaving at 13, and had a half-assed decent goatee/stache at 16. At 17 I grew a full beard (though admittingly not quite as filled in as now) when I stopped shaving for 3 months; it was thick enough that I could stick pencils and other objects in my beard. That was a big hit in high school. Once I knew I had the follicles to experiment with I had various styles of beards, burns and staches for years after that, although I did notice that my beard seemed somewhat denser around my mid-20's. Fast forward to today, it sure seems to grow faster than in the past, too.

Well I only asked the question because I'm curious when most members started shaving every day. I wish I could shave every day, but I guess I'll have to give it a few years

You got OUT of the service at 16? What kind of lies did you tell to get in at 12 years old?!?!
I think it has more to do with when your mom's dad started in with it. My dad started later than I did, but his dad started earlier. My mom's dad started about the same time I did...decent goatee/stash (not connected) at about 19, with cheeks and neck coming in thick enough not to be embarassing around 21. Up until 19 though I barely had peach fuzz...I was kinda a late bloomer as they say.

I'm 22. I wish I could say I've been getting a nice, thick, full beard since I was 18, but I can't. Why? Because my face still doesn't want to grow the 20 or so whiskers below the sides of my mustache it'd take to form a 'technically' full beard. What sucks is that where I work the only facial hair I can sport is either a mustache(which I hate by its own) a nicely trimmed and maintained full beard, or what is known as a Van Dyke? I think that's what it's called anyways , I'm from Puerto Rico, we call it a 'lock' in Spanish. Anyways, it can't be the mustache and the goatee separated, they have to be joined. Such a stupid policy... But of course I can't have any of those two options because of those 20 or so whiskers. ****ing frustrating T_T
Especially when my dad has a full beard yet I don't. What's funny is that besides that tiny area I'm practically wolverine with copper wire like whiskers.Last edited by HColl; 03-11-2011 at 05:44 AM.

That's interesting about it being related to your mother's father. I'll have to ask my grandfather and see what I cant expect .
Thanks for the advice!

Thanked: 21Started shaving with an electric in high school, but mostly my chin and 'stache. Beard came in much later (20-30's), but still thicker on my chin.
