I am on my computer a lot as is, and I think the iPad may be a bridge too far. So I would vote razor, unless you need a smart phone for work.

I've just bought the new Asus Eee Transformer so I guess that's my answer. In my defense, I do have a large collection of straights already.

I'd go for the straight razor as it would be easy to convince somebody to hand over their ipad with it. Best of both worlds then!

I'm on the same page as John, my ThinkPad T420 is 'out for delivery' on the big brown today. I could have bought quite a few razors with the $ I've spent on it. OTOH, I've already got quite a few. Guess it is a matter of priorities. Full disclosure, I've also got a Solingen and a Waterville Cutlery on the way to me too .... so I guess it is a bit of both but I did vote 'other.'

It is like comparing apples and oranges. Before I acquired my first straight razor, I didn’t know what I was missing. Now I have acquired several dozen and it would pain me to let any of them go.

They same can be said for my iPads (I have two).

And may I be so bold to say, that anyone who uses a computer but says they don’t like or they have no use for an iPad, has just never used an iPad!

I already have an iPad and most of my dream straight razors (Hanasama kamisori is in the mail) so for me it's, Belgian beer vs. Cuban cigars.

I live on a computer and I can assure you with absolute confidence that an iPad is of little use to me. If you doubt my word, try running a C compiler on it and let me know how you get on, then let me know how well it works doing pre wet-lab cancer drug screening and protein interaction modelling.
Plants v Zombies on it was kinda fun though and for a sales rep it could well be useful, just not so much for me.

    I hate gadets.

A razor, a tool, a new hockey stick, some outdoor gear over an I-whatever anyday.

I have to admit that generally I love gadgets. My espresso machine in particular is very dear to me.

Another qualifier for my "other" vote ...... I'm one of those few left in the world who have never owned a cell phone of any kind.
