You might want to try Mederma scar cream. I have been using it for several months on some scars on other parts of my body and definitely have noticed them fading. These are really old scars too.
It is expensive stuff and you have to use it 3 times a day (I usually go twice when I wake and before bed), but I've noticed some fading of them. Might be worth a look.
In terms of shaving, not sure what you are using, but you might want to switch to a round point only. I have a spike point that if I'm not careful can nick me every so often. Granted I haven't got any scars on my face from these, but they can bite.

Straight razor shaving is not for everyone. That's why lots of men in the olden days paid a barber to do it for them. If you are scar prone and accident prone straight shaving may not be the thing for you.
One thing you have to keep in mind: the sharper the razor the less pressure you need to cut the whiskers the less you cut yourself and if you cut yourself with little pressure the wound will not be deep.
Occasionally you see straights with blade guards. Would that be something for you?

Thanked: 993You don't have to defend your hobby. Hobbies should not need to be defended....that's why they are hobbies.
Explain to your friends that you're learning, and in learning there are mistakes. There are probably many of us that would agree that "any lapse in concentration" would create a cut, as you mentioned. I know from my experience, that I do not shave the next day if I've had a previous evening full of "fun". Lapses in concentration are not worth it.
Take it slow, make good decisions and passes.....and tell your friends to piss off. It sounds like I'm being a parent here, but if your friends aren't supportive, they aren't your friends.....
They dont have to shave with a straight....they don't even have to like it. But they should respect your decisions.

Thanks for the responses folks. As I sit here typing and reading I feel increasingly silly. I have an assortment of de/se razors too, and I do use them, I just like straights a whole lot more. The thing is, I'm in college, I really never "have" to shave, before I found B&B, SRP, and all my ADs I had a beard most of the time. Point being if I'm going to shave at all, I may as well grow a pair and do it the way that makes me happy, do it right, and not worry about what'll happen if I don't.
Sorry for the useless threadit was good for me though...

Its simple you just answer "These Scars? No, they come from what happens AFTER people ask me if thats where the scars come from"
But a product called Bio oil might help.
For me personally, scars add character so I dont worry, if I ever have to super glue any part of my face back on maybe just maybe I'll think about it. Until then I just enjoy it.Last edited by mowfow71; 06-23-2011 at 03:00 PM.
