Right now I have a killer 6/8 Bengall with a Tortoise handle that you can have in your price range. Let me know if you want a pic. Guess I'll have to put a few more razors up in the gallery......lol.

    Good Luck.

On the heavy side? Ok, that means either a half hollow(bi-concave) grind or, second, a grind referred to by Dovo as a flat grind and by others as a 1/4 hollow grind (single concave grind aka "wedge grind") or a 1/4 hollow bi-concave grind. Those are the grinds that are stiffer in terms of flex and heavier in weight.

    Lynn,

I'd be glad to see the pic, although I'm gonna wait a little bit to order (two weeks or so). I also might be interested in that 8/8 for a hundred bucks that I was linked to. My goal is really to get the best shaver I can (good looks are a plus).

Randy thanks for the definitions that should make it easier to find a razor that fits my heavy requirement.

I'll keep you guys posted on what I decide.

    John

There's a line around here (can't remember the attribution) to the effect that the best shaver is simply the best honed razor. There's a lot of truth to that. I like big heavy blades, but my favorite shavers are all thin designs; they aren't the stiffest and they aren't the heaviest, and only one of them has a famous name, but they easily take the best edge I can give and have never failed to deliver a sterling shave.

John Crowley ( www.shavingshop.com) is the author. He posted it in respone to my question about what was the best razor. About three years ago.

I'd use the $80 to bid on ebay razors from altima55 or mr_barence. Altima55's will come honed mr_barence will need to be honed - all will be in excellent to mint condition.
