Thanx for the belly laugh Obie.
I was reminded of some Groucho & Chico's conversations from the Marx bros movies

    My Dear Doctor Obie,

I've said it before, you are both literate and funny.

Your story and a couple of the replies made me think. There is little outward evidence to indicate we shave with naked blades (beyond the occaisional facial slice...gotta be extra careful with the spike points). But, when the subject does come up, most folks look at me as if I'm crazy or just dropped in from Mars. The conversation rarely progresses beyond " I shave with a straight razor". Of course I'm always up for extending the conversation and expounding but, rarely meet anyone for whom shaving is more than an onerous chore. Frustrating comes to mind. Anyone with similar experiences?

Once again a stellar read. Obie, you truly have the gift. I sometimes wonder if you sold your sold your soul to get it. Of course I am kidding, but your posts are always some of the most well written and most interesting on this forum. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Obie. That's an enjoyable read.

The only problem with your ode to Shapton is that it ignited a burning desire to expand my set of sharpening stones to include a Shapton or two...or three...or four...or...

I know what you mean. I, too, have fought temptation lately to acquire additional hones. The masters tell me I have all I need — and I keep reminding myself of it. Then again we can all use a parade of new Shaptons.

I know exactly what you mean, i have been getting the same look. (as i'm sure most people do on here). Or they say.... "That's an 'interesting' hobby" (in a concerned voice)

I have even offered a free blade to friends so they can have a go and they think I'm nuts!

Its funny how normal it seems to everyone on here and to most others we should be locked up for our own safety!

@ obie - You could always start testing them on your legs LOL, just sharpen in you jocks! At least you wouldn't be asked again about your bald arms lol
