    Default Bald As A Shapton

    "You losing your hair?"

"What hair? I'm as bald as a Shapton."

    "A what?"

"Shapton, a stone for honing — sharpening — straight razors."

"I don't mean the hair on your head."

"I'm losing hair in the other place, too."

"Well, as long as that's all you're losing."

    "I keep my fingers crossed."

    "Your arms I mean."

    "What's wrong with my arms?"

"Looks like some kind of skin disease."

    "I don't have skin disease."

"There, hair falling out in patches."

    "Oh, that."

    "That's what I said."

"It's from honing — sharpening — my straight razors."

"You sharpen your straight razors on your arms?"

"No, I test the blade to see if it cuts the hair on my arms."

"That's the craziest thing I ever heard."

"Wait till you hear the rest."

    Obie,

This was a spectacular read. I've had similar conversations, and I'm always reminded of "Waiting for Godot" when the occur. The conversations just die away and never go anywhere...

    Haha! Ain't that the truth!

Hence the reason I always wear long sleeved shirts at work..! You should have seen all the guys at the London Razorcon, we had about an arm and halfs hair between all of us!

Nice - I enjoyed reading that. Thanks Obie.

But, it raises a small concern for me - Shaptons are meant to be hairless?

Yes, yes, Maxi, Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" — goodness, I've not thought of that great play for years. Yes, a fabulous play, indeed, when conversations just fade away. Thanks for the reminder; I think I'll take it out of the bookcase this weekend and read it again. And thanks for the kind words, my dear friend.

James, my good man, thanks for the kind words. As for your concern, Shaptons are meant to be hairless, of course, especially if they look anything like me.

I was pouring wine for some ladies and one asked "why is your right forearm hairy and your left, hairless?" Without skipping a beat, I replied "because I'm right handed." She said "Oh, I see."
