    I learned....

Razors aren't swords so don't polish them with Japanese sword polishing stones.
    And
My fiance doesn't like blood in the kitchen.
    And
Don't trust your fiance to capture a photo of you injury! lol

And a few other things lol

You were obviously rubbing too hard

why not it has been done before.
to minimize the chances of cutting yourself use a magnetic jig to hold the razor in place.
you can search for it on the forum there are plenty of threads about it.

The magnets are raised a bit to match the hollow on razors just slightly.

Thanks, I will need to make a jig.

This accident was pure stupidity though, i should have known better lol

11:30 at night getting ready for bed and i had this great idea to test out the stones on my razor... Pure stupidity lol

@shooter74743 Whats the 1" piece of steel on the jig for? Just a better surface or dose it have a purpose? I only ask because i don't have any laying around so if it is needed ill have to go and get some.

It's actually aluminum. It's purpose is two fold. If you use a dremel, it serves somewhat as a heat sink. More importantly, it won't sand away like the wood...would. It's a bit softer than steel so if you were to bump the edge against it you would be less likely to damage the blade.

Steel works fine too, I use full sheet to cover the magnets as well.

I use a thin layer of bicycle inner tube rubber over the magnets. The razor edge sinks into the rubber a little & is more protected. The rubber is sacrificial.
