Yet another razor accident
Well...... I managed to cut my finger good this time!
I was sanding a blade by hand when i slipped and cut a 3-4mm deep x 12mm-14mm long cut on my right index finger.
After the shock and cursing i started to clean it up. After the bleeding slowed down i thought, what a good opportunity for a photo moment. So i got my fiance to snap a few photos with my camera phone...
Happily thinking i got some snap shot's of it, i finished bandaging it up and decided I could get away without stitches for this one.. I think.. (thank goodness!)
Later, i went to my PC to have a look at the photos she snapped, what did my fiance manage to capture.....? NOTHING! LOL
In the 4 photos she took, she managed to snap a little blood on some tissue's and all 4 shots had a blurry finger that you cant see anything! How disappointing! LOL
I almost felt that i needed to unwrap the thing to take another to prove it actually happened! !!
Ah well, next time i will get one.
My fiance said she was too worried about my finger and wasn't concentrating on the camera so i guess that's a good thing Better she worries about me then a stupid photo lol

Get a pair of Kevlar gloves... cheap, yet they will save your fingers!

The sinful old veterans of the First World War and earlier experiences, among whom I spent my early childhood, taught me that you must treat a bloodstain with cold water, never hot, but brain tissue should be left to dry and then brushed off. That would probably get a child taken into care nowadays.
A cut like that would be a precious possession to a small boy. 55 years later, I've still got mine.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! lol
It really was a 'spear of the moment' thing and i probably deserved it for what i was doing to my razor and considering i should have been in bed at the time lol. (And the truth comes out)
I just finished lapping a jnat and tested a blade on it, it sharpened up nice and sharp unfortunately lol. After testing my blade i left the blade and the stone on my table next to some thin Japanese sword polishing stones that came free with one of my jnats. (im guessing you can work out the rest but anyway here it is)
I walked past the blade, stone and sword polishing stones a few times and I thought.... i wonder if they work lol
So i snapped a piece off, rubbed it on my jnat to smooth it out and create a slurry and ran it over the blade a few times.... Not a good idea!
haha ill pass on that one!
Below is the poor photo she took, i there is actually a nice sized cut there LOL

Cuts and scars go hand in hand with hobby/biz, the trick is to learn from the mistakes and not let it happen again.
And then again there are the accidents that you just can't help. Now matter how careful you are things still happen.
I should probably get a Kevlar suit...LOL
Heal quick and be safe.
