Bleach falls in the same category as peroxide

While bleach can be powerful, Curriden notes it has a kinder, gentler side. "What do bleach and the beach have in common?" he asks. "Salt water—liquid bleach starts as salt water and degrades into salt water. When using bleach for disinfection, you want to make sure you're not using salt water."

I've had quite enough issues with my digestive tract of late, I think I'll be giving that one a miss.

It'll sort out eventually. Right now anti-biotics are my friend. Not so much greasy food, apparently.

But really, I hope it all works out in the end!

According to the CDC it is not proven that Hepatitis C, nor HIV, is killed by bleach.

    This is a good read:

There is a lot on here about Hepatitis, HIV etc. What about tetanus and how is that killed?

Wouldn't high carbon steel be prone to tetanus due to how easy it rusts etc?

I'm actually due for my next shot (i think) and most adults that i know don't get there repeats until they cut themselves.

That's a fantastic observation and one of the reasons I started (and stirred the pot!) on this thread. There are lots of viruses, many of which have not been isolated by scientists, that are transmitted by humans in various way. Using a sharp instrument on yourself that has the potential to cause open wounds and was used by another human is probably a pretty good vector for viral things, don't you think? I think it's good to ask lots of questions and be overly paranoid on this topic. This is grown up stuff, and as I said before my wife see lots of John Wayne types in the hospital, most regretting their ignorance.

Remember in 2003 there was a pandemic called SARS. That virus was not isolated and labeled till around 2004, after many, many deaths.

Did you know the fatality rate of tetanus is about 10%? One rusty blade that has the spores, a slip while cleaning, and you have a serious problem if you haven't been vaccinated.

As Andy Grove said: Only the paranoid survive.
